Cover: Neurons double stained with Fos-like immunoreactivity (IR) and preprothyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) IR in middle raphe pallidus (mRpa) of hypothyroid rats without colchicine treatment (250X). Dark-stained nuclei indicate presence of Fos-like IR, and light brown staining in cytoplasm indicates presence of prepro-TRH IR. From Pu-Qing Yuan and Hong Yang, Hypothyroidism induces Fos-like immunoreactivity in ventral medullary neurons that synthesize TRH. Am. J. Physiol. Endocrinol. Metab. 277: E927-E936, 1999.
