Corrigendum

Volume 293, December 2007

Nuotio-Antar AM, Hachey DL, Hasty AH. Carbenoxolone treatment attenuates symptoms of metabolic syndrome and atherogenesis in obese, hyperlipidemic mice; doi:10.1152/ajpendo.00522.2007; http://ajpendo.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/293/6/E1517.

In Fig. 3C of the referenced article, original energy expenditure values (expressed as kcal·kg lean body mass–1·min–1) were multiplied by 60 rather than divided. Thus, all values, per minute, are elevated 3,600-fold. Upon correction, and choosing to express heat as kcal·kg lean body mass–1·h–1, the relative difference between groups and the level of significance are unaffected. A corrected Fig. 3C is given here.

Fig. 3. C: energy expenditure in weight-matched female Ay/a;LDLR–/– mice treated with vehicle or mg·kg–1·day–1 CBX (n = 5) at the end of the 1st wk of the drug study. Values are means ± SE. P = 0.0022.

The related text is on page E1522, the last sentence of the second paragraph. The corrected sentence is: "In addition, basal metabolic rate was significantly greater in 50 mg·kg–1·day–1 CBX-treated than in vehicle-treated Ay/a;LDLR–/– mice: 22.1 ± 0.7 vs. 19.8 ± 0.4 kcal·kg lean body mass–1·h–1, respectively (P = 0.0022)."
