Corrigendum

Volume 291, November 2006

Volume 54, November 2006

Pages E1044–E1050: Katarina Fredriksson, Folke Hammarqvist, Karin Strigård, Kjell Hultenby, Olle Ljungqvist, Jan Wernerman, and Olav Rooyackers. Derangements in mitochondrial metabolism in intercostal and leg muscle of critically ill patients with sepsis-induced multiple organ failure.

In the above paper, the respiratory muscle biopsies were taken on the ribs, rather then between the ribs, to prevent pneumothorax. By doing this the authors actually sampled seratus anterior muscle and not intercostal muscle, as stated in the paper. In their eyes this does not change the conclusion of the paper as both the intercostal and seratus anterior muscles are involved in respiration and the aim was to study a respiratory muscle in addition to leg muscle.
