Application of probability-generating functions in evaluation of some isotopomer distributions

S. Kotz
Department of Management Science and Statistics, University of Maryland, College Park 20742, USA.

A method for calculating probability functions and moments of a distribution of isotopomers, constructed by Kelleher and Masterson (2), is described. The method involves the use of the so-called probability-generating functions, a mathematical device especially convenient for the purpose of calculation of probabilistic quantities in discrete models of the Kelleher-Masterson type.
